The number of foreign tourists visited the mountain resorts of Georgia over the past five years increased by 365%, Sandro Onoprishvili, the head of the mountain development company, says.

According to him, this is also facilitated by a number of major infrastructure projects implemented in the country.

"Several cable cars have been built in three major ski resorts, that  has significantly grown interest to them. Several more cableways will be launched in the near future, "he says.

In Sandro Onoprishvili’s words, in 2016 the number of tourists who visited the mountain resorts of Georgia increased by 37% while in  5 years – by 365%.

Currently, several large infrastructure projects are being implemented in the ski resorts.

It is also  planned to carry out various programs for the development of mountain resorts in 2018.

It should be noted that mountain resorts are the main objects that attract tourists not only from post-Soviet countries, but also from Europe, America, and Israel, in contrast to the sea resorts mostly visited by  citizens of the former USSR.
