The implementation of several infrastructural projects will be completed in Anaklia, the Samegrelo Region, in 2012. On May 28 Georgian President Mikheil Saakashvili visited Anaklia and saw the ongoing works. The construction of an aqua park will be finished this summer. The modern aqua park will include cafes and sports assets and will work for 24 hours, the President’s office says. At the same time, five new hotels will be constructed in the resort town. A 13-floor hotel Anaklia will open in 10 months. Hotel Abkhazia, which will be an analogy to the one in Sokhumi, will be also built, as well cafes and restaurants, including a rotating restaurant at the seaside. An artificial waterfall will be organized at the resort. A boating zone will be arranged near the Ganmukhuri-Anaklia bridge for sailboats. The Government has also launched construction of the Anaklia-Poti motorway. The President also visited a new stadium with artificial cover for 1000 fans. Anaklia wil become the best place for international football matches, Saakashvili added. “There is an ideal climate here and consequently, the place is ideal for our and foreign teams. There was a military base in the Soviet times and the territory was useless. Now Ganmukhuri has acquired new functions. New hotels will be also constructed at surrounding places. Currently, this stadium holds 1000 fans, but the number of seats may increase to 2000. Modern stadiums are being constructed in Zugdidi. Anaklia will host many matches and even the national team may play here”, Saakashvili said and added Anaklia will become one of the best resorts in Europe.
