2 Million Tourists Expected in Adjara this Year

Adjara Tourism Department speaks about a sharp increase in tourists in Batumi. As the department explains, more than 875 thousand tourists came in Adjara this year that is 40% more than in the same period of last year. The Department states if this rate is maintained in the current year, in total 2 million tourists will visit Adjara by the end of 2012, that will be 700 thousand more than results of 2011. According to the department representative, most frequently Adjara is visited by Azerbaijanis, Armenians, Turks, Iranians and Russians.

In addition, the Department informs that tourists are staying in the resort for 1 week and the majority of them prefer tours in mountainous Adjara, Batumi Botanical Garden and the dolphinarium. To attract tourists, the Department plans to organize in August the Beer Festival, Motorcyclists International Festival and other leisure activities.
