2 500 Tons of Saperavi and 500 Tons of Rkatsiteli Harvested in Kakheti

“Vintage -2012” headquarters continues evaluation of the harvest outcomes. The HQ Chief informs “Commersant" that at this time 2 500 tons of saperavi (an acidic, teinturier-type grape variety native to Georgia) and 500 tons of rkatsiteli (white-wine grape that is the most widely used in sparkling wine production) have been processed. According to him, 700 tons of grapes battered by hail were harvested in Gurjaani as well.

Paata Chavchanidze explains that the damaged grapes are not covered by subsidy and were delivered for 0.40 GEL. The chief of “Vintage 2012” HQ claims, prior to the hail in total 110 thousand tons of harvest have been expected in Kakheti. However, according to the preliminary information, this year harvest will make 80-85 thousand. "Vintage 2012" HQ expects the vintage to be finished by October 15.
