HYUNDAI E&C TO OPEN OFFICIAL REPRESENTATION IN GEORGIA

Regional Development and Infrastructure Ministry has reported that South Korean Hyundai Engineering and Construction is opening office in Georgia until late August, which will be the first official representation of the company in South Caucasus. The mentioned decision has been made during recent visit of Georgian delegation, headed by Regional Development and Infrastructure Minister Ramaz Nikolaishvili, to South Korea. According to the Ministry, Jung Soo-hyun, president of Hyundai E&C, expressed interest for construction of NenskraHES in Svaneti region of Georgia. To remind, estimated cost of construction of 400 mW hydroelectric station is $500 million. Turkey had showed its interest in the project also. The second project, which attracted Hyundai E&C, is upgrade of 42-km railway line Khashuri-Kharagauli. The project envisages construction of 12 new bridges and 9 tunnels, as well as equipping the line with modern alarm system. For near future, South Korea and Georgia plan to sign memorandum, which will promote cooperation and experience sharing in infrastructure sphere. To remind, Hyundai E&C and Georgian state LLC Road Technique signed memorandum on cooperation in late 2010.
