The building of Parliament in Tbilisi will not be privatized. Moreover, it is likely, the legislative body will move from Kutaisi to Tbilisi again in the old building located on Rustaveli Avenue. However, the consent of Parliament's majority, specifically 100 MPs, will be required which could be problematic.

A source in Parliament informed commersant.ge.

According to him, at least 500 people who are dissatisfied with the fact will have to go to Kutaisi: they are forced to leave their wives and children in Tbilisi, which is why some of the employees left the position. In addition, as commersant.ge source reports, the Parliament building in Kutaisi is not prepared for the work: the session hall is only prepared.

The Parliament workers talk about disruptions in communications, Internet works intermittently and electricity supply is often cut off.

At the same time, they were denied the promised compensation for the apartment costs and have to hire with their own finances. This is in the context when housing prices in the area surrounding the Parliament have increased: if a year ago a one-room apartment cost 10 thousand USD , now its price makes 30 thousand USD. Rental prices of apartments on the same example increased from 100 to 300 and 400 GEL.

"Besides the fact that the building is unfinished, walls have a bad sound insulation. Not even the curtains, there is a construction dust all around, office equipment is completely unorganized. Transport also represents a problem - a lot of Parliament workers often go to the capital, which is related to time and finance costs. We hope that Parliament will change the Constitution and the legislature will be transferred back in Tbilisi, in the old building. Although there is no furniture there, but it will not be a problem to return the building back into a working shape, "- the informed source told commersant.ge.

He adds that, the old Parliament building in Tbilisi will not be sold.

Note: In recent months, actively spread information about the possible sale of the building. As per the latest reports, France-based businessman Buba Keburia as well as hotels worldwide brand "Kempinski" were interested in the acquisition of the building.

Ministry of Economy has not commented on the termination of Parliament building privatization to commersant.ge.
