Russia's Chief Sanitary Doctor Gennady Onishchenko says that Georgian wine will be available in Russian stores from June 20. A bottle of wine will cost about 350 rubles. Experts believe that Georgian wine will gain the largest popularity among older consumers.

In total 69 enterprises received the right to supply products to the Russian market. This is what they had to undergo the "Rospotrebnadzor" examination. In the first week, Georgia plans to transport 150 thousand bottles. According to the head ofCenterfor the Development of a National Alcohol PolicyPavel Shapkin, the return of Georgian wine will be successful.

"I think the interest ofRussianconsumers towardsGeorgian winewill bequitehigh.First of all,high-qualitywinewillbesupplied, moreover, that "Rospotrebnadzor"was activelyengagednot onlyinblocking thewinesin 2006,butininspection ofthe newsupplies.Theywill bein demand,"-Shapkin notes.

350rubles,which isthe minimumpriceoftheGeorgianwine,is a quite highprice forRussianconsumers-VadimDrobiz,Directorof the Research Center for Federal and Regional Alcohol Markets, claims.

"It's a completely different segment, in which the Georgian wine will have to compete with virtually all types of the Middle and Far East wine.It is France, Spain, Italy, Argentina, Chile, South Africa, Australia, etc.At the same time, I do not think that theRussian youthhas astrong nostalgia towards Georgian wine and supposedly they will be indifferent to this product.This product, first of all, is for the older generation.Second – the consumers of this category should have at least 350-400 rubles in their pockets, "- notes Drobiz.

Imported from Georgia "Borjomi" has already been sold in Moscow stores. According to distributors, they are satisfied with the demand for the Georgian mineral water and will sell it across the whole of Russia in the near future.
