Tbilisi City Hall has issued 1 800 construction permits in 2013 and  in the first quarter of 2014 throughout the capital –Koba Bobokhidze, a  lawyer who cooperates with different organizations in the business sector, including construction companies, told commersant.ge.

According to his information, up to 200 issued documents provide for the construction of multi-storey housing in Tbilisi.

The attorney explains this  fact by the construction sector enliven and says that the issuance of such a number of permits in 15 months means the launch of the construction boom in the capital.

"It is, on the one hand, a good signal to the consumer market, where prices are still high and the reducing tendency is not observed. This might have an important impact on the price reduction,“-  he notes.

In Bobokhidze’s opinion, demand for apartments and high prices are caused by the fact that significant  economic activities are not being observed in the country that is why people prefer to invest in real estate and not, for example, in the enterprises.

President of the Developers Association Irakli Rostomashvili does not see the possibility of the price reduction due to activity of the construction sector.

Rostomashvili explains  commersatn.ge that demand for immovable property is so high that prices will not reduce.

As for the permits issued by the City Hall and construction boom, President of  the Association doesn’t observe a similar prerequisite in the city at this point and says that if this process begins, it will be easily visible.
