Tea -growing Improvement Program to Take Final Look Next Week

The Ministry of Agriculture will develop a program of tea-growing improvement. According to President of Tea Growers Association, the concept has been developed and  discussed , another meeting will be conducted next week to accept the final variant of the program.

 

Tengiz Svanidze explains that the program envisages the tea plantations passportization, tea seedlings breeding and rehabilitation of the existed. It refers also to the advertising of new tea brands. According to him, the Ministry has already developed several programs about  the ways of  tea-growing development in Georgia. Expect for preferential loans, part of the entrepreneurs have been preparing a business-plan to join the new government program “Produce in Georgia”.

 

Svanidze notes that 2-3 businessmen are ready to found  new tea processing enterprises. Svanidze adds that if a territory of  10 hectares is  exploited , Georgia will have  a potential to produce  20-25 tons of tea a year.
