Georgia’s hospitals could be fitted out with world-leading research equipment and ambulances equipped with vital medical instruments thanks to a multi-million aid grant.

Japan has given $5 million USD (8.8 million GEL) to Georgia to boost the country’s medical environment.

The grant will be allocated to the Georgian Ministry of Health to purchase medical equipment for ambulance services and apparatus for medical research.

The financial document was signed by Georgia’s Finance Minister Nodar Khaduri and Japanese Ambassador to Georgia Toshio Kaitani earlier today.

This was the eighth grant for Georgia as part of the Japanese Grant Assistance Program.

Since 1997, the Japanese Government has allocated about $40 million USD (70 million GEL) to Georgia to support its agricultural sector, municipalities and other projects.
