People from all over the globe descended in Kakheti region today to enjoy the official opening of Georgia’s first international standards golf club.

Hotel Ambassadori Kachreti invited dozens of local and international guests, including Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili and President Giorgi Margvelashvili, to the hotel to enjoy the facility and see the top-level golf course.

The two-day event began today and saw about 40 players – mostly foreign diplomats represented in the country – take part in a tournament on the new nine-hole course.

Members of the National Golf Association of Armenia travelled to Kachreti to take part in the tournament.

Georgian leaders Garibashvili and Margvelashvili were invited to the official dinner ceremony this evening, as well as various Ministers from the Georgian Government.

The Ambassadori Golf Club is situated on 25 hectares of land. The Ambassadori Kachreti hotel, swimming pool, tennis courts, basketball court, driving range and mini-golf green are located on five hectares while the nine-hole golf course occupies the remaining space.

Plans to begin the Ambassadori Golf Club began in 2011 and the course was designed by the Canadian Architect Graham Chooke. Construction started in 2012 and finished in November 2013.

All tournament participants were hosted for two days by Hotel Ambassadori Kachreti.
