The influential analytical portal about hotels TopHotelProjects writes about a new wave of construction of branded hotels in Georgia.
According to the portal, due to the increasing flow of tourists, the demand for hotels is high in Georgia and the number of international visitors exceeds the local population.
"Last year, the Black Sea resorts of this small country with a population of 4.49 million were visited by 5.4 million international travelers that is 22% more compared to 2012.
Due to the large flow of tourists, demand for high-class hotels is especially growing. The vast majority of international visitors are from the neighboring states. (Turkey -1.6 million, Armenia - 1.29 million, Azerbaijan - 1.08 million, Russia - 0.77 million). Aflow of tourists from Germany and other EU countries has significantly increased as well.
31% of international travelers visited the country for the first time, more than 2/5 of visitors stayed in hotels. The remaining 10% were housed in the family-type hotels and hostels. Currently Georgia has 777 hotels and 14 400 rooms in the hotels.
In the coming years several large and medium-sized hotels are scheduled to open in Batumi. In the next 3 years new hotels meant for 1 000 beds will be built in Tbilisi.
The branded hotels are scheduled to open in the capital city in the near future, such as: Rixos, Millenium Hotel, Park Inn, Rooms Hotel Tbilisi, InterContinental and Hilton Garden Inn. In the Kempinski, Holiday Inn, Hilton, Swiss Hotel, Babylon Tower. Hotels will be built in Gudauri, Bakuriani, Borjomi, Kutaisi, Ttsinanda, Akhtala and in other places, "- the web-site writes.
