Hotel Intourist Palace has hosted an exceptionally high number of guests this summer.

According to Rusa Shamugia, the Marketing Manager of Hotel Intourist Palace, the increased number of hotel clients is caused by the very rapid development of Batumi's infrastructure. She believes a visit of many famous mega stars in Batumi has also increased the number of tourists.

In the last few years, Batumi has become one of the most visited Georgian resorts. As the city is developing many different buildings and hotels are being constructed. But Intourist Palace still remains one of the favourite hotels for guests.

“The owner of the hotel is LTD Intourist. Georgian and Turkish specialists manage the hotel. It has already existed for more than 70 years and it is distinguished with its rich history. This hotel was chosen for the significant meeting of heads of the governments of the three allied powers (Roosevelt, Stalin and Churchill) but in the last moment the meeting place was changed to Yalta. This meeting is well-known in history as the Yalta Conference. The British Secret Intelligence Service put a veto on the idea of hosting it in Georgia, as Batumi is very close to the Turkish border,” Shamugia said.

“The hotel has 145 rooms: 129 Standard rooms, 7 Superior, 4 Luxe, 3 Terrace Luxe, a Premiere suite and a Presidential Suite. Most of the rooms have a beautiful view over Batumi Boulevard. I have to say that the 2011 season was really exceptional due to the high number of guests. Batumi has hosted many mega stars this summer which really affects our ability to attract tourists and guests,” Shamugia told The FINANCIAL.

“40% of our guests are foreigners and 60% Georgians. Our hotel hosts guests from different parts of Europe and Asia. We regularly host guests from England, Germany, Italy, Russia, Ukraine , Israel, Turkey, Iran, Kazakhstan, Armenia, Azerbaijan and many others. This summer we were mostly visited by residents of the UK, Russia, Germany, Israel, Turkey and Azerbaijan.

According to Rusa Shamugia, Intourist Palace welcomes healthy competition from other hotels. She claims that high competition stimulates them to improve and always smarten the quality of service at the hotel and it helps them create novelties.

“In the last few years many high class and famous hotels were opened in Batumi. This fact doesn’t allow us to become inactive and the many new constructions have influenced hugely on the development of the city. Therefore Batumi is becoming more attractive for tourists,” Shamugia said.

“At the hotel we have special promo actions regularly. We are creating innovative products as we offer our guests many entertaining events which tend to be fully booked in our hotel segment,” Shamugia says.

“With quite flexible prices we are eagerly trying to create a competitive environment. With the experience gained during these years, with the idea of keeping an old style with many interesting memories and warm feelings, our hotel remains exceptional for those tourists who enter the hotel the very first time,”Shamugia said.

For the opportunity to spend a pleasant evening tasting delicious dishes the hotel offers 2 restaurants. According to Shamugia, one of them is ‘Restaurant Venezia’ where people can have a business lunch with fairly low prices. ‘Restaurant Tbilisi ’ is the best place to spend evenings and also for arranging weddings and many other events.

“Guests of hotel Intourist may also enjoy ‘Bar Bakuriani’, where people have the opportunity to listen to live music with the accompaniment of saxophone and royal. ‘Champion Bar’ is the best place for having a rest. You can enjoy watching football here, playing billiards or just having a snack. You may also enjoy the spa service at our hotel, both the inside and outside pools, the saunas, Turkish Hamami, the fitness centre and a large variety of massages,” Shamugia notes.

“For all types of conferences and meetings we offer people 3 conference halls which are perfect for private negotiations and also for large meetings. We have a casino at the hotel with some of the newest technology,” Shamugia said.

According to hotel officials, the price of a Standard room for 1 person starts from 129 USD in a less busy season but during the popular season prices reach 177 USD including a VAT rate of 18%. The price includes a breakfast and the use of: spa facilities, the gym, saunas, the Jacuzzi, the pools and Turkish Hamam.

“Our Head Chef at the hotel is Revaz Chakhladze, who offers guests delicious dishes and makes Intourist Palace really exceptional among other hotels in Batumi. We always make changes and refresh our menus depending on the hotel’s guests’ demands. We have many different sweet dishes and deserts at the hotel. I have to say the ‘Desert Volcano’ is one of the most popular dishes among our clients,” Shamugia said.

“Hotel Intourist Palace will always try to offer its clients different kinds of packages and discount promotions. We will try to attract clients with novelties and high class services. In October our hotel will be offering people special promotional packages for meetings and conferences, which include 50% discounts on conference halls, 20% discounts on rooms, 10% discounts on meals, one free coffee break each day and many other additional services for free” Shamugia told The FINANCIAL
