The first 5-star hotel in Georgia- Sheraton Metechi Palace - located in Tbilisi will be closed for renovation until 2016.
According to the management of the hotel, after investing, Sheraton will undergo radical changes and will regain its former luster.
In total USD 25 million will be spent on the renovation, the hotel will be closed on December 1, 2014 and will resume operation in early 2016.
"The hotel will be transformed into a place where even the most experienced travelers will be able to get top quality service. This will become possible thanks to the investments of the Government of Ras Al Khaimah - one of the emirates of the UAE, which is the owner of the hotel since 2007, "- said in a statement of Sheraton management.
The hotel, which was opened in 1989, after renovation will be equipped with the most modern technologies, fitness and spa centers, new restaurants, bars and exclusive lounges will be opened there while meeting rooms will be expanded. A reconfiguration of the rooms is also planned, after the opening the hotel will consist of 220 club and luxury accommodations.
"Visitors will see again the hotel’s main business card –a grandiose foyer, but it will be completely updated," - Klaus Brandstetter, General Manager of Starwood International Hotels and Resorts for Hotel Pre-Openings in East & Central Europe, declares.
According to him, all rooms and public space of the hotel will be transformed and improved.
Executive head of Races Al Haym Development states that the Sheraton Metechi hotel is a symbol of the Georgian hospitality for numerous guests of Tbilisi.

Sheraton Metechi Palace is the first 5-star hotel in the region which was commissioned in 1989. The hotel is operated by the American company Starwood Hotels & Resorts Worldwide, Inc, one of the leaders in hotel management.
