Businessmen interviewed by "Commersant" talk about the need of putting the infrastructure in order that will allow them to implement business projects in regions.

The Prime Minister urged businessmen  to engage indevelopment of the regions. Upon Georgia‘s PM initiative, a regional development concept will be developed in the near future.

My main focus will be directed to regional development. We have established a regional development state commission, and very soon we will present regional development concept to the public, businessmen and private sector. It will be a long-term strategy and an action plan that will be well adjusted to each village, district and region.

I would like to take this opportunity and to address the businessmen: engagement in this project is important because the state and government have limited resources. We have a unique opportunity today - business is free, media is free," -he said.

Director of  Archi Group engaged in  implementing projects both  in the regions and Tbilisi states "Commersant" that the concept of development is very important not only for large business, but also for the local small entrepreneurs.

According to  Ilya Tsulaia, Archi Group owns a hotel in Racha and in the near future plans to launch cheese farm.

Ilya  Tsulaia considers it  naturally when you enter the region with  a short-term investment don’t think about calculations and apart from  the profit-makingfocus on the development of the country.

former head of the National Tourism Administration Maya Sidamonidze , who is currently engaged in the tourism business believes that  the infrastructure should be improved in order in the future businessmen to become more interested  in the regionsIn her wordshotel business in regions is characterized by seasonality  and hotel maintenance costs are very high in  off- season. For this reason,  the government can enact  the legislative benefits in this sector.

President  of the Association of Young Financiers and Businessmen   Nodar Chichinadze thinks that the call is not sufficient to activate the regions. In his opinion,  it is necessary to introduce economic levers such as the tax benefits in the mountainous regions to encourage investors to move  production in  regions or open  a new enterprise.

Chichinadze says that if the conditions are not good, it just will not make sense and would be unnecessary costs  for the business. The  Association’s President  considers  infrastructure an important and decisive factor.
