Intercontinental Hotel to be Opened in Tbilisi Next Year

Intercontinental hotel will be opened in the Georgian capital in the  first quarter of 2016. In the meantime, "Commersant" reports about the details of the  hotel construction.

 

Intercontinental is brought in  Georgia by Adjara Group which  will invest $ 45 million in the project.

 

According to Valery Chekheria, "Adjara Group" CEO ,  renovations are taking place in the old building of the publishing house Samshoblo at the moment. In his words,  the repairs should  be completed by the end of 2015.

In his words, it will be the first luxury 5-star hotel in the country and will consist of  250 rooms.

 

In BatumiAdjara Group opens the world-renowned hotel brand Crowne Plaza's branch.

 

As reported, Holiday Inn hotel would  not be built in Batumi. According to Valery Chekheria, General Director of Adjara Group Hospitality who operates Holiday Inn Tbilisi, Rooms Tbilisi,  Rooms Kazbegi hotels,  Crowne Plaza hotel will be opened in Batumi instead of Holiday Inn.

 

Chekheria notes that  Holiday Inn  will not be able to compete with  such hotels  as Radisson, Sheraton, Hilton. Therefore, to make the market more competitive, it was decide to choose a relatively upscale hotel brand.

 

The building will be  5-storey and will consist of  173 rooms. A volume  of investment is expected to exceed USD 20 million. The hotel will be calculated for relatively high-income segment.

 

Crowne Plaza, as well as Holiday Inn, is the  InterContinental Hotels Group member and is known as the brand focused on the conference concept.
