“Tbilisi Plaza” reconstruction is expected to start in the summer. According to a representative of the  investor company , designing is almost completed. Ucha Gelashvili says that the project has been agreed with the City Hall, and an issue on installation of air-conditioning and water supply systems is being discussed.

Gelashvili  claims that according to the plan,  design should be completed by the end of March, and construction work will start in the summer. In his words, "Tbilisi Plaza" will be a shopping center with an investment cost of 40 million. Who will be the manager of the shopping center is still unknown.

A  new project which had to be carried out in place of a department store was announced in 2007, but the project has stalled for several years. Last year, Tbilisi Plaza investor reached an agreement with the government of Georgia on postponing the investment commitments. Under  the new commitments, the   project should be completed in 42 months. The project’s original cost was  100 million.
