Construction of a 25 km road connecting Khevsureti villages Roshka and Arkhoti ( a historical-ethnographic region in eastern Georgia) will begin in the summer. Commersant.ge was told at the Ministry of Infrastructure and Regional Development.
They inform that the Ministry’s Municipal Development Fund will announce a tender for the construction of a 25-km road in the near future.
"As you know, there has never been a road in Arkhoti, therefore it was necessary to study the situation on the ground, a preparatory work is completed. Currently the project, in accordance with the law, is undergoing expertise in Levan Samkharauli National Forensic Bureau, after its completion, the construction tender will be announced. The construction will begin in the summer of 2015, "- say in the Ministry.
In their words, the construction of the Arkhoti road has a strategic importance. This is a border area where 33 families are planning to return and this region will be resurrected.
The then Minister of Infrastructure Elguja Khokrishvili talked with "Commersant" about Arkhoti road construction. He said that the project’s idea was to give people the opportunity to travel.
He also noted that along with the road, it was also planned to develop tourism infrastructure and promote the guesthouse business.
As for the cost of the project, at this stage, the numbers are not specified, however, depending on the complexity of construction, most likely, we are talking about large amounts.
The construction will be financed from the state budget.
Recall that due to a lack of funds, construction of Sachkere-Shkmeri- Oni road has stopped.
