Two business forums are being held today in Georgia’s capital Tbilisi, being attended by official delegations from Austria and the United Arab Emirates (UAE).

Georgia’s favourable business environment was heavily mentioned and the country’s investment potential was also discussed. Georgia’s Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili encouraged guests to look into investing in areas such as real estate, energy, logistics, transport, ski infrastructure, agriculture and tourism.

Garibashvili, who hosted both business forums today, said the UAE was one of the biggest investors in Georgia, while Austria was "an important hub” for Georgia in its European integration process.

While talking about Georgia-Austria relations, Garibashvili said: "Today’s business forum proves the special relationship that is between Georgia and Austria. The Austrian president’s visit in Georgia is an expression of his support towards Georgia and especially before the Riga Summit. Austria supports Georgia’s aspiration for Europe,” he said, adding Georgia had great potential as a hub between Europe and Asia.

Garibashvili offered the Austrian business society a "unique” business environment.

"Today the court system is independent from the Government and this is one of our biggest achievements. We have achieved important success in agriculture and environment directions and improved the economy,” Garibashvili said.

Meanwhile, the Georgian official announced the opening of a Georgian Embassy to Abu Dhabi, capital of the United Arab Emirates and a Consulate General of Georgia to Dubai, a city in the United Arab Emirates.

This decision was made after Garibashvili met the UAE’s Economy Minister today at the Georgia-UAE business forum.

"The United Arab Emirates has invested $700 million USD in Georgia. Last year the trade turnover amounted $220 million USD. The United Arab Emirates is one of the biggest investors of Georgia.”

The UAE’s Economy Minister said Georgia had big potential as an investment country. He said he was interested in learning more about Georgia’s infrastructure, energy, culture, tourism and industry sectors.
