Batumi, a vibrant city in Georgia’s Black Sea coast, is welcoming the summer tourist season with another five-star hotel.

The $40 million USD Leo Grand hotel opened its doors today.

The hotel has 180 rooms, conference halls, a restaurant, club, spa centre and world class service. The complex will employ 700 locals.

Today Georgia’s Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili attended the opening ceremony of the Leo Grand and thanked the Turkish investor for supporting the project.

"This is the second five-star hotel we have opened in Batumi,” Garibashvili said, adding several more were planned to open later this year.

While in Batumi, the PM visited the construction of another hotel - the $50 million USD Orbi Beach Tower, which will boast 1,000 rooms when complete. The hotel is due to open in October 2016.

The Orbi Group behind the project has already invested 450 million GEL in Georgia.

"This is an important contribution to the country’s economy,” the PM said.
