A free industrial zone (FIZ) will be built in Gonio. The Memorandum will be signed this week between the FIZ administrator company ICBT Corp and the government of Adjara.
Roughly, a free industrial zone will be placed on 300 hectares of land in the village of Gonio near the Turkish border. According to the author of the project, head of the "Georgian-Belarusian Business Group" Archil Dolidze, it includes investors from different countries such as the Czech "Tatra" American " Invest Energy ", as well as businessmen from Israel and Canada.
At this stage negotiations are underway with the Government of Georgia on receiving the FIZ status.
The industrial zone will be divided into three formats - the first provides for the deployment of business objects on the area of??10 hectares. Business zone will unite the stock exchange, leasing companies and business entities.
The second part will be designed for the tourism business and merge several high class hotels while IT laboratory will be located in the third.
"At this stage we have already received from the government permission to organize the first format of the industrial zone and the process of transfer of the land area is going. It's a long process, but we have the support from both central and local government, "- Dolidze notes.
It is planned to involve IBM company in creating a virtual zone - at this stage negotiations are underway with Moscow and Kiev offices of the American giant.
"We give the representatives of the international business an opportunity to work and create harmonious conditions in Georgia for this purpose. Both tax and political environment in the country is totally acceptable for them, they believe they can work safely in Georgia today, as there are no bureaucratic obstacles and artificial interference. In addition, we are very interested in the tourist zone, we want to open several high class hotels in the FIZ. We are also negotiating with Hollywood company "Warner Brothers," - Dolidze explains.
According to him, all construction work will be carried out with use of materials produced in Georgia.
"At least 18 enterprises will be built, including the production of sandwich-panels, building blocks, and decorative accessories. In parallel, we are in talks to build a waste processing plant. We also reached an agreement with our foreign partners on the construction of a new road to the airport and the new terminal, "- the author of the project adds.
