Number of Visitors Entering Georgia Increased by 4.9% in January-June

In July 2015, the number of visitors increased by 9.5% compared with the same period last year. The data  was published  by  the Interior Ministry's Analytical Department.


According to the Ministry, in July 2015 in total 696 737 people visited Georgia that is 9.5% more than in the same period of 2014.

 

A) Tourists - 336 664 visits – a 45.6%  growth  in the total number compared with  the previous year's figure of  2.2%
 B) Transit - 182 693 visits – a 4.8% increase in the total number  which  amounted to  2.7%;
C) Other - 218 339 visits – a 29.6%  growth in the total number compared with  10.4%  in the  previous year.

 

As for the January-June period, the Interior Ministry's Analytical Department informs that  the country has been visited by  3 069 999 people that is  4.9%  more than in  the same period  of 2014. 

In July2015, the largest number of visitors came  from Turkey (+ 12%), Azerbaijan (+ 7.9%), Armenia (+ 11.9%), Russia (+ 6.6%) and Ukraine (+0 , 6%).


A positive trend is maintained from  the EU states and  in January-July the number of tourists visited Georgia was especially high  from Lithuania, Czech Republic, Great Britain, Germany, Latvia and the Netherlands (respectively, 23%, 23%, 15%, 15%, 15% and 15% ),  from the Central Asian countries  leads Kazakhstan (32%), form the Eastern European countries - Belarus and Moldova ( 48% and 32%), while from  the Asian countries - the United Arab Emirates and Saudi Arabia (+768% ; + 137% ).  The number of visitors from the United States increased by 12%.

 

Director of  the National Tourism Administration  George Chogovadze  also  talks about  the growth trend. In his words, the number of visitors entering Georgia has been increasing for a fourth month.


Chogovadze says  that the number of foreign travelers or tourists, who spent more than 24 hours in Georgia, increased  2.2% compared with July last year.
