Spanish businessmen are expected to select the area for thegastronomic and tasting tourism shopping in late October. "Commersant" was told at the Economy and Sustainable Development Ministry.
According to them, the investors showed interests in a few places some of which are states-owned, while others are owned by private individuals.
The then Economy Minister Giorgi Kvirikashvili said in July that the investors were looking for a place where they can realize their project.
"Some of the objects they can use are privately owned, the other – state-owned. They are independently negotiating with private companies. At this stage it is not known what may be the amount of investments. But in general, this project is very useful and good in terms of tourism development. Ethno-cultural objects of this type are successfully operating in Spain, and is likely to be successful in Georgia,"- said the Minister.
A group of Spanish businessmen visited Georgia in mid-June to familiarize with the county’s tourist potential. During a meeting with Georgia’s Minister of Economy , they discussed the arrangement of a gastronomic and tasting shopping center, the analogue of which is located in the historic center of the Spanish capital.
