Gia Salukvadze,  governor  of Guria region,  says  that the development of the resort is envisaged in the 4-point plan of  the country’s infrastructure development.

In the governor’s words,  the tourist potential of the resort is being explored  and after that  the resort’s development will start. As the governor notes, it will take several years to fully develop the resort.

Salukvadze explains that  unfortunately the resort’s potential has been  untapped for years, there were no roads and communications. According to him, at the stage rehabilitation of the water and electricity systems is underway at the resort.

As the governor notes, the rehabilitation works will be completed before the end of the year, after which the local government will be able to offer the resort to investors.

Salukvadze adds that the construction of a cableway  which will connect the resort with the seacoast is also considered. "Imagine, when people in September swim in the sea and at the same time can   reach the mountain by cable car and ski there. This is a unique resort ,"- says Salukvadze.

Note: Giorgi Kvirikashvili  said  in March of the current year that the Georgian government was  working on the development of year-round resorts .

As for the resort of  Gomi, the mountain resort is located in  Guria-Adjara  Municipal District. The resort’s  unique conditions are still underdeveloped. Today Gomi mountain  is the resort place which has mineral springs, forests and other natural resources, which could be used for purposes of  treatment, prophylaxis and rehabilitation.

As reported, the government plans to carry out the rehabilitation and development of other resorts, including Lebarde and Bakhmaro. Foreign investors have already showed their interest in these resorts.
