In 2015 a total of 1 225 hotels and hotel-type facilities operated across the country. While 172 new hotels were put into operation in 2015, the Georgian Statistics Service reports.
15.3% of the total number of hotels were built in 2014, in 2013 - 12, 1%; in 2012—9.3%, in 2010 – 5.9%, in 2010 – 34.9%.
99. 3% of hotels in Georgia belong to private owners, of which 9.6% are foreign natural and legal persons while 0.7% of hotels are state-owned.
In 2015, the total area of the hotels was 1, 2 million m2, the total area of residential rooms - 616 000 square meters, which is 23, 5% more than in 2014.
In 2015, the total number of rooms in hotels and other types of lodging establishments amounted to 48.6 thousand, the number of rooms in the hotels - 23, 1 thousand , of which 10.6% - were suites, 13.7% - single rooms, 58.4% - double rooms, 17% - designed for 3 or more guests.
In 2015, hotels and hotel-type establishments were visited by 1 854 million people, which is 33, 3% more than in 2014.
