In this tourism season a new hotel will open in Batumi. Five-star Wyndham Hotel will open in the former building of Post Office.
Active Batumi, the hotel investor company, says that the hotel inauguration date has not been specified yet. Anyway, the hotel will start serving clients by the end of this tourism season.
Located at Memed Abashidze Street, Wyndham Hotel will consist of 146 suites. The project calls for investing more than 60 million GEL in the Region. The hotel employs 500 persons.
Wyndham Hotel Group was founded in the USA in 1981. The company unites 55 brands and 7670 hotels worldwide. The company will open its first facility in the Ajara Region.
The hotel will comprise conference and event halls, restaurants, nightclubs, spa center, swimming pool, vitamin bar and administrative offices.
Casino Princess will also launch operation jointly with the hotel, the Batumelebi newspaper reports.
The culture heritage monument – the former Post Office building in Tbilisi – was sold by the Ajara Government chairman Levan Varshalomidze in 2010 to Active Batumi company for 2.5 million USD. Active Batumi had been registered in an offshore zone in the same year. The new Authorities show tolerance to the mentioned company, namely, deadlines for opening the hotel was postponed and extended several times, the Batumelebi newspaper reports.
